UNDER AGE (1941, Columbia) - A vice ring uses pretty girls to lure men into clip joints. When one of the girls is killed, her sister goes undercover to avenge her. Here Tom Neal tries to entice Nan Grey with a frosty glass of milk and a plate of lima beans. Director Edward Dmytryk later made such classic noirs as Murder My Sweet, Cornered, and Crossfire, but he was named one of the Hollywood Ten in 1947 and served six months in prison for contempt of Congress. Then he sang like a nightingale for HUAC in '51 and suddenly found himself employed again.
