This is Roystonea regia, also known as Cuban royal palm and Florida royal palm.eautiful palm likes to live in full sun where it can get to be over 70 feet tall in some places. This is the national tree of Cuba. The blossoms repeat throughout the year and they are white, tan, or yellow and they develop pinkish streaks. The blossoms change depending on what stage of maturity they are in. The fruits and flowers are very popular with birds and bats. In Christianity, this tree is used in Palm Sunday observances, and it is also used in Santeria where it is associated with Shango. The seeds are used to feed animals and to make oil. The wood is used in construction and the roots are used to make a drink called tifey.
