Here's a complete version of Handel's Messiah, conducted by Sir Malcom Sargent. It's from a 1960s recording done with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and, to be honest, it's got its lovers and its haters.

Those who grew up listening to this version swear by it. Others claim, especially from the Christopher Hogwood camp, it's too slow and over orchestrated when compared with brisker, more exultant versions we hear today.

If you're a Messiah aficionado, you might consider picking this unique interpretation up and judge it for yourself. It's definitely different.
