Red Earthenware Bottle Vase with Hand Carved Dragon 10 Inch Made in Japan C. 1920

This incredible vase has a slithering dragon decorating the bulbous bottle form. The dragon has been meticulously hand carved in bas relief into the red earthenware. The textured surface reminds one of limestone or hardened lava. A true beauty, the vase stands 10 inches (25.4 cm) tall. It is marked on the base with Japanese characters in an oval cartouche. Width: 5 inches (12.7 cm). Circa 1920; excellent condition! (#4006-CA)
