Duffy's Tavern was heard on the radio from 1940 to 1952 and was widely loved from the beginning by both critics and the working-class. Though it made the transition to television in 1954, it only lasted for one season.
Duffy's Tavern ran for years on radio but didn't translate as well to film or television. An American radio situation comedy which aired on both CBS and NBC, it often featured famous stage and film guest stars. But the show almost always centered around the misadventures, schemes, and romantic missteps of the title establishment's manager, Archie, played by Ed Gardner.
