Kindling Solo Pendant
Made from recycled brass and set with a brilliant piece of aquamarine in the center, the centerpiece of the necklace is attached to a 16-18" brass chain. The pendant itself is about 2" long and 1" wide. This beautiful pendant necklace is part of the new Emilie Shapiro jewelry collection offered by the Jewish Museum of Maryland.
Emilie Shapiro is a New York City based jeweler whose work is inspired by natural elements and heavily driven by experimentation. She uses sustainable business practices by avoiding harsh chemicals in her studio, using nickel free recycled materials, and working with vendors who share this same ethos. She incorporates natural, rough gemstones which celebrate beauty in imperfection. Each piece is unique since her style is based off the ancient craft of wax casting meaning she carves the sculptural pieces out of hardened wax before casting the metal. The gemstone is then inserted into the hot metal which ensures the stones are embedded in the metal, representing the marriage of the two elements. All the pieces are handmade.
