Michael Jackson 1984 'Beat It' Doll by LJN Toys!
This is a Michael Jackson 1984 'Beat It' Doll by LJN Toys!
In 1984 a range of four Jackson dolls known as the ‘Superstar of the 80s’ range was released by the American company LJN Toys. The company had previously released a number of toys relating to popular fictional film and television characters, finding success with their highly popular range of figures based on the Smurfs.
Each of the four dolls in the range is based on a particular outfit worn by Jackson during a music video or appearance. These are:
Beat It music video doll
1984 American Music Awards doll
1984 Grammy Awards doll
Thriller music video doll
The company also produced these outfits to be sold separately, along with three others: Human Nature, Motown and Billie Jean.
The 'Beat It' doll is poseable and measures 12” tall. Its outfit matches the one worn by Jackson during the video for his 1983 single ‘Beat It’, taken from the album ‘Thriller’.
The outfit comprises a red jacket with gold trim and shoulder panels, a blue t-shirt, black trousers, a gold belt, gold sparkling ‘magic’ glove and black shoes.
It also came packaged with a plastic microphone and a posing stand for the doll.
The doll appears to never have been removed from the box, but, does appear to have been shrink wrapped to preserve a shelf worn/dented box.
