Airplane Royal Air Force RAF De Havilland FB MK.VI Mosquito 15.1/4" Wood Model Aircraft In many discussions of the Second World War, one of its most famous and successful multirole aircraft is often left out the De Havilland Mosquito. This fighter-bomber and reconnaissance aircraft earned the moniker Wooden Wonder due to its all-wood design. The design of this medium fighter-bomber originally came from a line of all-wood de Havilland racing planes that appeared in the mid-1930s. Geoffrey de Havillands use of plywood with a stressed skin approach was seen as a revolution at a time when metal-skinned airframes were the norm. Although the wooden design was rejected by the British Air Ministry, it possessed a number of advantages, the main ones being it's small and lightweight construction and lack of complicated and heavy defensive systems. Eventually, the all-wood De Havilland Mosquito was greenlighted for production in 1939. The De Havilland Mosquito desktop model aircraft is the perfect addition to your model airplane collection. n Sep-26-17 at 15:41:02 PDT, seller added the following information:
