Candle Making Supplies:
1 lb. of CW129 candle wax (for containers and votives)
1/2 tsp. Vybar 260 candle making additive
1 Reddig-Glo color chip or shavings from color block
1 oz. candle fragrance oil
zinc core candle wick(s), prewaxed and tabbed
wick sticker(s)
heat resistant candle container(s)

Candle Making Equipment:
digital scale
double boiler (or old pan with water and melting/pouring pot)
candlemaking thermometer (or candy thermometer)
measuring spoons
long handled spoon or whisk
wooden skewer or knitting needle

How To Make Container Candles:
Preheat container in warm oven, approximately 150F. Melt wax in a double boiler over medium heat. As the wax melts, add vybar and dye. Stir to blend well. Continue to heat wax to 175F. Remove from heat. Add fragrance oil and stir gently to blend. Remove container from oven, attach wick sticker to the bottom of the wick tab, and adhere to the inside of container. Carefully pour melted wax into container to about 1/2" from the top, making sure to save enough wax for the repour. Support the wick with a skewer or pencil, if necessary, and allow candle to cool until the top has started to set. Poke 4 or 5 relief holes around the wick with a skewer or knitting needle. This will prevent the wick from shifting as the wax cools and contracts. Reopen the relief holes as the wax cools to prevent a void of air inside the candle. The wax will shrink as it cools and form a well in the center of the candle. When the candle is almost completely cooled, reheat the container in a warm oven and remelt the remaining wax in the double boiler. Heat the wax to 180F, remove container from oven, and top off the candle with the melted wax. After the candle is completely cooled, trim the wick and let "cure" for at least 24 hours before burning.
