Thyme, Thymus vulgaris, is a herb from the mint family found mainly in the mediterranean region and well known as a food seasoning. After centuries of use for it's medicinal properties, it is now becoming more well known today as more than "just a herb". Packed with phytonutrients, antioxidants, thymol and carvacrol, Thyme herb is fantastic for many health reasons.
A lot of it's goodness comes from it's oil which contains thymol and carvacrol.
Thymol has antibacterial and antifungal properties, killing bacteria and fungus and used in many household products for this reason.
Carvacrol has bacteria fighting properties but it also has antioxidants such as flavanoids. Carvacrol has been shown to effect neuron activity and increase the neurotransmitters, dopamine and serotonin, levels in the brain helping with an ellevated sense of wellbeing and uplifting mood.
Thyme is rich in vitamin C and vitamin A and ideal for colds, coughs, sore throats or flu.
Thyme is excellent for supporting the immune sytem and may help lower blood pressure, bad cholesterol and triglycerides whilst increasing good cholesterol.
So thyme herb is really quite essential to overall health and wellbeing.

SUGGESTED USE & STORAGE
Place 2 teaspoons (2.5g approx) in a cup of boiling water.
Steep for 5-7 minutes or 10 minutes for a stronger brew
