Handmade silver priestly blessing 2 sided pendant. One side is engraved with the blessing and the other side has 2 lifted hands to represent the way the priests lift their hands to their faces, with their fingers spread in a special manner.

The blessing:

"The priests bless Israel, and God approves their blessings" (Babylonian Talmud, Holin)

The Priestly Blessing is done in the middle of prayer. The Cohanim, the descendants of the priests (Cohanim) who served in the temple, stand facing the worshippers with their faces covered with the tallit (prayer shawl), and bless them.

The prayer consists of three passages: "The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace." (Book of Numbers, chapter 6). The cantor reads the three passages of the blessing, word by word, and the priests repeat after him.

This is also the reason for the blessing's other name: "triple blessing". The blessing is also called "lifting hands", because the priests lift their hands to their faces, with their fingers spread in a special manner.

The prayer's power

The first priests who blessed the people with this prayer were Aaron and his sons, according to the Lord's order: "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them" (ibid).

Our wise men have seen these three passages as being parallel with the three fathers, as well as the three higher sephiroth in the Sod (secret) learning – Hesed, Gevura and Tiferet.

Evidence to the blessing's antiquity and importance in the eyes of the people can be found in two rolled silver plates found in Jerusalem in a 2,500 year old Jewish burial cave: The words of the Priestly Blessing were inscribed on the plates, and it seems that the buried person wore them as a talisman, and even took them with him to the grave.

This unique pendant will make an unforgettable gift to your special someone.

The Priestly Blessing pendant is a meaningful piece of jewelry. The design is beautiful and it feels well-made. It’s a perfect representation of spiritual significance and makes a great gift. I’m very pleased with this addition to my collection.
