Plat books can be an aid to genealogists for following land ownership in families and locating the names of neighbors of ancestors. Plat books contain maps of each township with land parcels outlined with the name of the land owner and acreage of parcel. Also the maps will list cemeteries, schools and roads. The scan at the right illustrates the available information. The bad news is that there is no index for the book. This plat book contains maps of the townships.
Lee county is in nothern Illinois and is surrounded by Ogle, DeKalb, LaSalle, Bureau and Whiteside counties. The county seat is Lee. Other towns include Amboy, Ashton, Compton, Franklin Grove, Harmon, Lee, Nelson, PawPaw, Scarboro, Steward, Sublette, Walton and West Brooklyn.
About the CD: This CD provides the genealogist the opportunity to have access to information from a book that is difficult to locate in the used book market.
