A good antique English 18th century Georgian close plated pair of wick trimmers and and an Old Sheffield Plate snuffer trayThe wick trimmer is close plate (silver plate on steel) and the snuffer tray is Old Sheffield PlateThe wick trimmer is in good condition with little or no plate lose and dates to circa 1800,it stands on three feet having scrolling foliate decoration and a spring loaded mechinism still in working orderThe snuffer tray dates to circa 1780 and is of elongated oval shape with beaded border and pierced foliate decoration to either end and a crest of a rampant lion to the centreThe tray has some wear or "bleeding" to the beaded border and central crest but is otherwise in good conditionAlthough these two pieces are a marraige meaning they did not start out life together candle wick trimmers did always stand on a snuffer tray and they look very well togetherAll in all very elegant and interesting antique pieces from the golden age of English craftsmanship the Georgian periodWidth snuffer tray 9.5 inches or 24 cmWidth wick trimmers 6.75 inches or 17 cm
