The Rainbow Eucalyptus is a beautiful multi-colored tree native from the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. It is also found in New Britain, New Guinea, Sulawesi and Seram. The tree is grown for its decorative trunk. It permanently loses its smooth bark in long, thin strips and gradually changing color as it ages - first a pale green before becoming darker blue, purple,orange and brown. Hence the common name of the tree - Rainbow Tree. It has white flowers. It supports many types of soils. It can withstand freezing temperatures for short periods.
