Grand Hotel album
Condition: Record: VG (has been listened to) no writing, no warping. Includes "Welcome to the Grand Hotel" brochure with words and drawing. Gatefold album cover is not perfect but passes, sleeve included. This is a Promotional Copy, white label. Released 1973, Chrysalis Records.
Songs include:
1. "Grand Hotel"
2. "Toujours l'amour"
3. "A Rum Tale"
4. "TV Caesar"
5. "A Souvenir of London"
6. "Bringing Home the Bacon"
7. "For Liquorice John"
8. "Fires (Which Burnt Brightly)"
9. "Robert's Box"
"For Liquorice John", with its uneven rhythm and haunting lyrics about death, is an homage to Jim Mundy, an old-time friend from the band's genesis in the early sixties. Mundy had committed suicide in 1972. In the early 1960s, several of the musicians that would form Procol Harum were members of R&B band The Paramounts - a name given them by their manager. Mundy had objected to this name, and suggested one of his own for them, "Liquorice John Death". After Mundy's suicide, among his possessions was found a painting of a cover for a non-existent "Liquorice John Death" album."
OUTSIDE USA BUYERS: MAIL QUOTE IS ESTIMATED. You may inquire what the rate will be to your destination prior to purchasing, as the amount may be much less...I'll update the cost on the invoice at that time.
