RICCARDO Restaurant & Gallery - Chicago, Illinois - 1950s(?) Vintage Matchbook Cover
Description: Here's a very nice vintage standard-sized matchbook cover from the Riccardo Restaurant & Gallery, located on Rush Street in Chicago, Illinois. The place claimed to be "The ONLY SIDEWALK CAFE IN CHICAGO". The phone number was given in the old style as "WH. 4-8815".
There's no printing on the inside.

Actual Size: approx. 2" x 1.5" (closed)
Date: Not dated, but the style of the phone number probably places it in the 1950s, or perhaps early 1960s.
Condition: Very good, I'd say. The cover is very clean and the striker strip doesn't appear to have ever been used. However, there's a bit of damage to the striker strip area, likely from removal of the staple that held the matches, along with an additional set of staple holes which pass through the striker strip and both sides of the cover. (Please see scans.)
