Hello. I spent nearly 10 years selling on that other site (you can check my feedback there; It's under the same ID as this one; over 3200 positives, 99.7%). But I thought I'd give this new site a try.
I'm just getting started here, so please excuse the amateur appearance. I'll have the place looking better shortly.
Like all of my cds, this is an Original CD, with original inserts (NO CD-Rs or bootlegs).....
Here's some info or review ......This coed New Jersey group continues to favor raucous garage punk RnR roll on their second LP for Get Hip. Equal parts Runaways ("Downtown Girl"), Donnas ("Afterschool Special"), Ronettes ("Everybody"), Radio Birdman ("Sweetheart¼s Theme"), and 1978 EP-era Avengers, these "schoolers" like it rip-roaring and bratty but clean-with Ramones-like clear, balls-outs sound courtesy of 25-year vet Jim Foster of original Adrenalin O.D. and Electric Frankenstein. I thought of The Avengers comparison before I noticed that they cover The Avengers "Thin White Line" here, and they do it so well! Excellent taste! The version of David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust classic "Moonage Daydream," on the other hand, is merely passable. Like The Avengers Penelope Houston, singer Cynthia Santiglia is equally effective as a tough chick sticking out her tongue at her tight-assed classmates and a seductive and confused lover, like on "Not Coming Back": "It felt so good sitting on your hood/But that was yesterday, and far away," she sighs, as if Carole King or Ellie Greenwich wrote HSS's songs instead of her and powerhouse guitarist John Steele. New member ex-Feelies drummer Dave Weckerman plays drums on half the LP, and I dig Paige Sixteen's farfisa and backing harmonies and "ahhh"s. This is more fun than a thousand modern cartoon punk LPs, and more lively than any prom. One-two-three-blast off! -Jack Rabid Cosmik Debris My high school sweetheart liked Olivia Newton John's music. Almost exclusively. It was a point of contention, to say the least. Baby, if you're out there, you were great, but why couldn't you have been a little more like New Jersey's High School Sweetheart? Their songs are simple in the best way, raw and loud, heavily distorted and rhythmically driving. If some of that drive had been dialed back and the edges had been sanded down, a coat of polish thrown over the whole recording, we could have safely call it power pop, but this is honestly too relentlessly powerful for that. It over-powers power pop. But then again, almost every song has a clever hook, a melody that's likely to win you over quickly and spine tingling vocal harmonies to seal the deal. Man, sounds like I'm describing great power pop, except in this case you couldn't actually hear me describing it over the SCORCHING LOUD ROCK AND ROLL that sends your adrenalin pumping. This is the follow-up to their 1999 debut, Passing Notes. Hopefully, vocalist Cynthia Santiglia and her cohorts won't take six years to come up with album numero tres. I suspect they're going to find they have a small army of fans after this one, and momentum can be everything, even (or especially) at the indie level. If you have a section in your CD shelf called "High Voltage Attitude Adjustment Music," I do believe it's missing a disc. This stuff'll getcha right. -DJ Johnson ......
