Long considered the only live band worth seeing in Williamsburg's hipper-than-thou rock scene, Brooklyn's brilliant and beloved MINK LUNGS return from the outer reaches of reality with a whole new bag of brilliantly cracked psych-pop. The Arena Rock Recording Company is excited to release “I’LL TAKE IT” on June 3rd, 2003. Venturing out of the shadows of their gargoyled Brooklyn castle for the first time since 2001’s “The Better Button”, MINK LUNGS prove that the tinseled halo of hype surrounding their debut wasn’t just a fluke. In fact, this time ‘round MINK LUNGS are louder, more rocking, more foot-stomping and more brilliantly warped than ever. MINK LUNGS are brilliant mad geniuses, and on “I’LL TAKE IT” – their second album, the band has recorded 17 amazing songs, which combine the talents of each person in the band in a very interesting way. Four singers, four songwriters - each member performs and is in charge of the song(s) they have written. Although the band members each have their own style of songwriting, “I’LL TAKE IT” manages to be a cohesive record. It’s like different rooms in a house - they all may look different inside and have different things in them, but they all belong under the same roof. They all sound like MINK LUNGS songs. The recording process for this record also changed drastically. Each band member had always had a DIY ethic about them and spent plenty of time over the years experimenting with various recording equipment. In fact, “The Better Button” was recorded on a cassette 8-track and a half-inch 8-track machine! To record “I’LL TAKE IT” MINK LUNGS chose to leave their home studio and record the record in state-of-the-art facilities. The album was made with the help of Scott Norton at “Headgear” and Ray Ketchem at “The Womb”. This left time for MINK LUNGS to concentrate on their craft rather than worrying about what cables were plugged in where and what kind of microphones to use. The album sounds bigger and more epic, and so do the songs. Comparisons to the Flaming Lips, Guided By Voices and the Pixies are hauled out far too often in this indie world, but for once they actually ring true, but we’re sure you can find your own ways to describe them! Last time out, Magnet magazine declared, "I have seen the future of rock n' roll and it is Brooklyn's Mink Lungs."
