Hello. I spent nearly 10 years selling on that other site (you can check my feedback there; It's under the same ID as this one; over 3200 positives, 99.7%). But I thought I'd give this new site a try.


Like all of my cds, this is an Original CD, with original inserts (NO CDRs or bootlegs).....

Here's some info or review ......Coyly described as "half-male, half-female", Veronica Lipgloss and The Evil Eyes seem to take their cues from Siouxsie And The Banshees and X's art punk and The Psychedelic Furs' pop. The Witch's Dagger isn't traditionally shocking in the manner that Siouxsie Sioux, Exene Cervenka or Nick Cave's early work was. While singer Rhani Lee Remedes yelps her way through the album, and it's easy to imagine her writhing on the floor in mock ecstasy, her charisma isn't as well developed -- but you'll be surprised that a lounge-punk band driven by inspired guitar work, saxophone (handled quite well by James Brooks Caperton) and keyboards can deliver such credible shake-yer-ass dance music. The descending riff that kicks off opener "Driving Thru The Rain" is quickly joined by Remedes's screams and moans -- "What's in a body if you don't have a spine?" she asks, the answer delayed by the new wave synthesizers and poppy bassline. It's not the only song in which the synth and bass pummel the vocals into submission: "Strip Mall Glass"'s keyboards and displaced guitar riffs provide an extremely danceable groove, the frenzied guitars and prominent synth in "Like Lead" distorts all but the repetitive line "My head feels heavy like lead", and closer "Let Me See Your Eyes"'s tight synth/bass cohesion gives new meaning to the term "synth bass". Seriously, keyboardist Krispy and Remedes (who doubles as the group's bassist) practically operate as a single unit. Meanwhile, Remedes's singing veers between polar opposites; she's artful ("Unicorn Song") and wry ("Just For Fun"), often during the same song. Remedes even does some Kim Gordon-style chanting in "Rats" and "Bleed To The Beat" (which features the near-whispered line "I want to bleed to the beat"), which turns out to be highly effective. Speaking of single units, how about that melody instrument? As Caperton handles both guitar and sax duties, both instruments perform a similar duty here. Less melodic instruments than foils for the synth and bass, they are typically frenzied, drop in and out just as randomly as Remedes's voice jumps into full-on screaming. It's only on the slower "Just For Fun" that the guitar can be called melodic -- Caperton plays a sensual line that comes damn close to being sexy. Both "Mars" and "Benny's Nightmare" rely on the sax more than the guitar, but the "Unicorn Song" provides the best example: from the opening horn riff to the serious double-sax breakdown halfway through, you'll almost believe that Ornette Coleman or John Zorn had some input on the song's insane horn runs. Veronica Lipgloss & The Evil Eyes have put together a perfect blend of art-punk and dance music. Albums like The Witch's Dagger are rare -- the brew of artistry and artifice, melody and rhythm, homage and originality are perfectly balanced. Get it while it's hot. ......
