The Goops CD Lucky/chick punk rock n roll $7.99 FREE SHIPPING
Hello. I spent nearly 10 years selling on that other site (you can check my feedback there; It's under the same ID as this one). But I thought I'd give this new site a try.
I'm just getting started here, so please excuse the amateur appearance. I'll have the place looking better shortly.
Like all of my cds, this is an Original CD, with original inserts (NO CDRs or bootlegs).....
The Goops "Lucky" (Reprise/Kinetic) Eleanor Whitledge, vocalist for NC garage punks the Goops, doesn't pretend to be a vomiting monster like the frontbabes in Babes in Toyland or L7 or a cutesy kindergartner like the one in Veruca Salt or the Muffs, so she rocks me more. In last year's remake of "Build Me Up Buttercup," she started out totally pretty but kept getting louder and higher-pitched until she twisted into a hoarse, powerfully sexy, Joan Jett snarl. On the new CD, she's most fun when yapping like a tough Laverne and Shirley city chick. Most of 1994's self-titled album The Goops was about revenge and drunkenness. Lucky has a healthier production and subject matter (girls wanting boys), and thus less dark and slimy, p---ed-off shtick.. What with this band's blatant bar-hack tendencies, lyrics you won't forget are a must. "Hard Candy" is angular like Elastica; "Don't Wanna Be like You" seems to be aimed at Kurt Cobain; and the male-sung "Cut the Rug" is an equivalent of Tre Cool's dips--- skiffles on Green Day LPs. But only "One Kiss Left" and "You Wish"'s fast funkabilly really work. So much for perfection. —Chuck Eddy
