Pyramid Lake is located 45 minutes North of Reno Nevada. Pyramid sits on a Paiute Indian Reservation. The lake is 22 miles long and 12 miles wide. The size of the lake helps grow fish to enormous size. The Sub species of Cutthroat trout in the lake are called the Lahontan Cutthroat Trout and commonly grow to 10-20 pounds. Larger fish have been caught in the past few years up to 30 pounds. Anglers come from all over the world each year in search of these behemoth trout. The season for fishing at the lake is October 1st to June 30th with the peak season being late fall and spring.
Our Pyramid Lake tours are two full days that will cover just about everything. We will tour all of the lakes many popular fishing hot spots and discuss how to approach each one. Weather plays a big role when fishing the lake and we will cover important keys to using the weather as an asset to create the best fishing conditions, how to use it to decide where and when to fish. We will cover in detail proper rigging, flies and gear to have when fishing the lake. We will use this information while at the lake to pick out places to fish while we are there and spend plenty of time on the water fly fishing. Rob Anderson will be your host for these outings. Rob is the first ever fly fishing guide at Pyramid and has been guiding the lake for 15 years.
