2000- 59th Annual

Cover says "Honor the Past - Experience the Future"

cover - The court members on the front cover are: King Buckwheat, Nathan cougar; Queen Ceres, 1942 Bettie Boyles Livengood. after 58 years, we honor those men and women that were forced to put their lives on hold for the duration of WWII. The owner of the army jacket is Jack Crogan (Kingwood), He served under Patton, receiving the Presidential Citation for us unit. John Dale Orr (Independence) was injured in battle in Luxembourg, and received this purple heart medal. The photo includes Mr. Orr and his butty, Leslie "Hap" Fredrick (Gladesville)Mr Frederick was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery during the Battle of the Bulge. The flag with two stars belongs to Charles Thomas (Terra Alta), denoting the number of family members engaged in the military. We are proud of the service these and other Prestonians gave during WWII. (This is also to say, that we are proud of all those that have served their country in the military.) Thanks to everyone who has assisted in finding the court members, school pictures, and selctee's photos. In particular, we say thank you to Pauline Toothman. Her remarkable story has given all of the Steering Committee members an adventure never to forget.
