A beautiful piece of traditional Central Asian tribal craftsmanship... gorgeous.
Hand crafted with high quality lapis azuli, silver and brass.
This is from the Kuchi tribal people of Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Pakistan. Traditionally, this style of piece would be given to a young couple on their wedding day as a kind of insurance. If times got hard, they could sell the jewelry for extra cash to get them through their troubles.
Lapis is also believed by the kuchi (as well as the ancient Egyptians) to symbolize wisdom and truth. These cultures believed very strongly that whomever hold lapis azuli will be wise and see better the truth in all things.
An absolutely remarkable piece of world heritage and culture.
