THE COMPOSER:

JOHN ADDISON , a wonderfully-melodic composer of both lighthearted and serious scores for film and television, won the Academy Award for his rollicking scoring of Tom Jones . A few of his other compositions: Sleuth , Smashing Time , The Loved One , The Amorous Adventures of Moll Flanders , End of the Road , Seven Days to Noon , Private's Progress , Carlton-Browne of the F.O. , The Honey Pot , Lucky Jim , Josephine and Men , The Entertainer , A Taste of Honey , The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Runner , A Fine Madness , Start the Revolution Without Me , Hitchcock's Torn Curtain and The Charge of the Light Brigade (1968), among many others.

THE FILM:

A BRIDGE TOO FAR (British - 1977), the epic telling of a disasterous Allied airdrop behind enemy lines in 1944 Holland, features an enormous cast, including DIRK BOGARDE , JAMES CAAN , MICHAEL CAINE , SEAN CONNERY , ELLIOTT GOULD , GENE HACKMAN , ANTHONY HOPKINS , LAURENCE OLIVIER , RYAN O'NEAL , ROBERT REDFORD , LIV ULLMANN among many others.
