Product Review
I’m a freelancer Engineer and as production budgets have fallen through the floor, I set up a small mix room for my more financially challenged clients. The rig is an amalgam of analog and digital gear of all ages, and I like to mix many of my projects to analog tape. Not some bogus plugin but a 160 pound steel machine (MCI JH-110b) that actually records analog audio onto magnetic tape.
Maintaining these machines these days means having access to an experienced tech and also using the best cleaners for day-to-day operation. Most of my favorite old brands are now history and I’ve lately been reduced to using isopropyl alcohol, which I know is not good for much of anything on the tape machine. My pinch roller has been developing quite a glaze also and I know enough not to apply alcohol to that part.
So I ordered both the S&R Audio tape head cleaner and pinch roller cleaner from another online site where I sell they sold a ton of the SR-Audio cleaners.. And they work great! The head cleaner particularly helped me remove some oxide buildup on the guides that I didn’t realize was even there. The pinch roller cleaner removed the buildup of oxide on the surface and changed the glaze into a satiny surface perfect for handling master tape. I really like this stuff!
