Function of Ultraviolet (UV) Filter.
The main function of UV Filter is to absorb UV wavelength under 400nm.
Photo taking in the environment of fog or high altitude will have the tone of purple and blue due to the strong UV wavelength. Using a UV Filter will effectively reduce the interfernce to the sensor caused by UV, as well as improving the image definition and color rendition.
Since UV filter is transparent, there will not be any negative impacts to the image in the environment of low UV wavelength. However, there will be reflection colors under sidelight due to the AF coatings on the surface of the glass.
Why Do I Need a High Quality UV Filter.
In the digital era, the camera's CMOS is unlike the film which is UV-photosensitive. The photography equipments are relatively expensive now. In the meantime, they need to shoot in variety of stringent indoor and outdoor conditions. In order to keeps the lens away from dust, rain, greasiness, fingerprints, repeated wipe and other accidental damages, a UV filter is necessary to well protect the lens. While most of the time when a UV filter is assembled on the lens, the quality of it should not be neglected.
Quality Japanese AGC Optical Glass.
NiSi MCUV applies with Japanese AGC glass to ensure the filter quality while the glass is also tempered to improve the glass strength. We tested the glass under the Shimadzu UV spectrophotmeter to make the figure precise and proved. Products will be cleaned through ultrasonic cleaner.
Multi-coating Technique.
Every article has reflection, colorless and transparent glasses are no exception. Reflection affects light transmission which limits lens functions. Coatings are to reduce reflection generating by glass surface and to increase light transmission. This is how Anti-Reflection (AR) coating functions.
Comparing with sing layer coating, multi-coated glass substantially reduces reflection as well as veiling glare. When shooting with back-lighting, coatings will highly reduce glare and halo.
(SMC stands for 'Super Multi Coating' which now is the most advanced coating technique)
Incomparable High Definition.
NiSi MCUV Filter has 12 layers coating with 99% transmission rate while the transmission of visible light can also read to 98.5%. Photo imaging is improved by using NiSi MCUV Filter and meanwhile it protects your lens well.
NOTE: To install the filter correctly, filter adapters might be needed on certain camera models. Please reference to the filter size (diameter) for a correct filter adapter.
