Double horses heads copper match holder safe or key keeper early American hc3330

A small hinged copper box attached to a back plate with 2 horse heads. Probably meant to hold matches or keys, it looks to be early American, but is definitely old. I found it in the 1950s in a house my family moved into. It has to date at least to the 1920s.

It is 4.25 inches across on the box. The horses heads reach 5.25 inches across. The whole box is 7 inches top to bottom.

Condition is as I found it. Other than dusting it has not been cleaned so it has a lot of patina. Otherwise no dings, dents or rust. It is all copper except for the solder where the box is attached to the backing.

There is thread wrapped around the horses' heads that I used to hang the piece on a picture hanger. It is an unobtrusive way of hanging it without damaging the horses or box.
