Oil and Wet Bronze on Linen
Representation of the struggle to overcome the five hinderances in Vipassana meditation. Made from all colors of the palette, applied with brush, knife and paper towel. There are highlights of gold metallic paint which catch the light from various angles. Soft geometric shapes and lines with curved, rounded edges, appear layered atop one another as if they had fallen there. The individual shapes display gentle contrasts of color and distinct, individual texture. The pieces are layered in a way that provides stunning contrast of both texture and color. The painting evokes the feeling that the layers will continue to pile up in time, as if they have been burying themselves for a while. There is the sense that this painting is deep; that one could reach a hand into the top of the painting and force the colors and shapes apart.
