Spring Candy Stripe Vest

This is a pattern for the vest, which is made with 4-ply yarn and colors of white, periwinkle, buttercup, and light blue. It is made from the bottom-up in 5 separate pieces, with seam work being done on the sides, armholes, shoulders, and collar. The vest is measured to fit a 2 year old, but could fit a child who is a little younger or a little older. Although not listed as a necessary material, straight pins can be used to secure pieces together, especially where rolling occurs. Careful measurement is required when seaming the armhole and collar edging since they are meant to stretch and, therefore, appear smaller than the armhole and collar. If the collar does not seem to be big enough for the child’s head, simply bind off one stitch on inside of collar on every row and that should open the collar up almost another inch.
