Here for your delectation is the SPECTACULAR & RARE------------------JUSSI BJOERLING /E LUCEVAN LE STELLE /CH'ELLA MI CREDA LIBERO /RCA 4408 /78 rpm RECORD.THIS ITEM IS NOT AVAILABLE ANYWHERE!!Johan Jonatan "Jussi" Björling (5 February 1911– 9 September 1960) was a Swedish tenor. One of the leading operatic singers of the 20th Century, Björling appeared for many years at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City and less frequently at the major European opera houses, including the Royal Opera House in London and La Scala in Milan."E lucevan le stelle" ("When the stars were brightly shining") is the romanza of Mario Cavaradossi (tenor), a painter in love with Tosca, in the third act of Puccini's opera Tosca, composed in 1900 to an Italian libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa. It is sung by Cavaradossi while he waits for his execution on the roof of Castel Sant'Angelo.Written in B minor, is one of the most famous opera arias. The vocal range extends from F♯3 to A4.The aria is introduced by a somber clarinet solo. The incipit of the melody (heard in outline earlier in the act, as the sky lightens and the gaoler prepares for the execution) is repeated on the lines "O dolci baci, o languide carezze" ("With sweetest kisses, tenderest caresses"), and also restated in forte in the closing bars of the opera, as Tosca jumps from the ramparts.Ch'ella mì creda libero is a tenor aria from Act III of the opera La fanciulla del West by Giacomo Puccini. It is the final tenor aria sung by Dick Johnson (a.k.a the bandit "Ramerrez") before his death sentence. In the aria, he was hoping for the Sheriff and the miners not to tell Minnie, his lover about his ill-fated destiny. He wishes Minnie to be told that he has gone far away and will never return. It is said that during World War I, Italian soldiers going away to the front would sing this aria as they marched.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!This is theRCA 4408 78 rpmrecord. The record is in very good condition(see photo). Check my feedback to see that I sell exactly as I describe. So buy now to own this magnificent, impossible-to-findRECORD COLLECTIBLE.***CAVEAT FOR PURCHASERS OF 78RPM RECORDS FROM BARRY'S BARGAIN BIN***The 78 rpm records offered here have accumulated from older relatives of mine. I am not familiar with most of the recordingsand the information offered has been culled from my research on the internet (and may have factual discrepancies). For those who are not recording cognoscenti (including myself), be aware of certain details: (1) These records are very old--always fifty to ONE HUNDRED years or more; (2) As such, the recording quality is never more than acceptable--especially incomparison to Hi-Fi, Stereo, and Digital recordings. These are always noisy, with clicks, pops, etc.; (3) If I notice a substantial scratch under normal light, I will mention it inthe ad; but I have not played these records before offering them for saleand have no idea whether they will be suitable to your taste and quality requirements. They are offered as COLLECTIBLE items. (4) Hence, NO RETURNS WILL BE ACCEPTED--FOR ANY REASON!This leads to an explanation of shipping. I have, in the distant past mailed 78rpm records worldwide, with less than satisfactory results. Since these records were made of shellac, not "unbreakable" vinyl, they were subject to the handling of, shall we say, "gorillas" between my store and your home or business. As such, like fine china or glass, a considerable amount of breakage ensued. Although I tried many time-consuming and expensive methods of packing these highly perishable items, I was frequently stymied in my efforts by other handlers, and so finally gave up offering these EXCEEDINGLY RARE collectibles. Through numerous telephone calls and negotiations, I have been informed that major shipping companies--UPS, FEDEX, et al.--are prepared to handle these items and guarantee success in delivering them. The approximate cost to ship one record in the US is $25 (with minor variations concernings zip codes). That $25 will cover all shipping and handling costs--including insurance and tracking. I assume multiple purchases will have some minor discount which I will gladly pass on to you. International shipping will, needless to say, require a specific and higher quote. I am aware that otherswill assure me that shipping costs could be cheaper, but I (and my customers) seekguaranteed hassle-freedeliveryand assurances from trusted shipping companies.THEREFORE----whatever price you choose to negotiate with me, understand that approximately$25 of the purchaseprice is for the shipper----this way my ads will continue to reflect the BARRY'S BARGAIN BIN policy of offering free shipping on every purchase.Thank you for taking the time to read this importantinformation---and enjoy shopping for these EXTREMELY RARE and delicate collectible items at BARRY'S BARGAIN BIN.ALL OF MY LISTINGS ARE BETTER THAN AN product!!
