January 3, 2009) was anAmericanactor Hingle was born Martin Patterson Hingle inMiami, Florida, the son of Marvin Louise (n?ePatterson), a schoolteacher and musician, and Clarence Martin Hingle, a building contractor. Hingle enlisted in theU.S. Navyin December 1941, dropping out of theUniversity of Texas. He served on the destroyerUSS MarshallduringWorld War II.
