This image was taken in the late evening of the 15th June 2011, looking north along the coastline for approximately 16 miles , in the foreground is the north end of Marsden Bay, then the South and North Shields piers with Tynemouth Priory along the cliff top to the left, further along the coast we have St. Mary’s Island and Lighthouse, further up the coast in the lighter silhouette tones of the photograph, in the far distance we the Silos and the UK’s first offshore Wind Farm at Blyth, behind the wind turbines set even further back we have the 8 tall chimneys of the now closed Alcan Aluminium Smelter plant at Lynemouth, and to the far right is Lynemouth power station with it’s solitary chimney.
