ESTATE: "Vue de New York et Broklin par Williams" (View of New York from Brooklyn by Williams); 1870 hand tinted lithograph. The lithograph was originally part of themassiveAmoco Oil fine art collection put together by their late curator Frank Carioti who retired in 1991.Upon the merger, it became part of the BP art collection and, according to the sheet attached to the back of the print, the provenance of the piece was established by Samuel Stein Fine Arts, Ltd., a well known Chicago art gallery. Theprint is in excellent conditionalthough there are a couple of dings to the heavy mahogany veneered wood frame (please review photos) and some staining to the paper that seals the back of the frame.The artist's nameis William Earle Williams, (not the photographer),and the piece has 14 call-outs that include places that no longer exist like "Woolsey's House" and "Brick Church/Beckman Street"...and the old "City Hall".
