Not only are these sugar cane plants edible, but they also make beautiful landscape plants. The cane pictured is the "Florida Red" with the clump on the left being this years newly planted cane and is less than 3 months old and the clump on the right is last years unharvested canes with this years new growth. The plants regenerate every year from the roots with double the number of canes as well as increased size of canes.
. The number of canes will approximately double each growing season as well as becoming fatter each year.

The young sugar cane plants are will be potted in 3 gallon pots in a mixture of soil with a PH of 6.8. . These plants will grow to the full height as seen in the other pictures during a single growing season. After harvest, the cane roots will remain dormant through the winter and then resprout with additional and larger canes the following spring after the ground warms
