These layers of beans in a quart jar make a nice gift. Requires can tomatoes and water. Serves 8
Soak beans overnight. Drain and add 6 cups water, cover, and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer 1 hours or until beans are almost tender. Add can tomatoes and seasoning mix. Stirring occasionally, cover and simmer 30 minutes. Uncover beans and continue to simmer 1 hr. longer or until beans are tender and soup thickens. Serves 8
