Walking in the sand dunes in late evening gave some superb photographic opportunities, this photograph of a sand fence is a little different than the usual. The strong low evening sun turned the sand a glorious gold colour and cast long dark shadows of the sand fence, making an interesting and artistic scene.
The image holds a lot of deeper meanings for me, while walking around the sand dunes and studying mother natures power, compared to man’s poor attempt to contain her, with her force of shifting such huge amounts of sand, man’s 4 foot sand fence is well and truly beaten to the point of being totally buried in parts along the sand dunes. No matter what man does on this earth, it is no match for mother nature.
Taken on the high sand dunes on my local beach at South Shields, Tyne and Wear in the North East of England, surrounded by great views as far as the eye can see, to the north you the North Shields river front and the Tynemouth Priory high on the Cliff above the South and North Shields piers, to the south there is South Shields beach along to the higher ground and cliffs which is the start of the Leas, grassy cliff tops where if you carry on a mile or so you will come to Marsden Bay, to the west you have the inland skyline of the Town, to the east, the North Sea to the horizon.
