Do you live in VA,MD or D.C.?
If so we can help you on your way to energy independence with whole home Energy Audit!
1-800-816-0151 or 1-434-263-4755

What is an Energy Audit?
It is a comprehensive test with high tech tools to determine not only how much your home leaks air but WHERE as well. Controlling those leaks can save you upwards of 20-40% off of your heating and cooling bills and that is BEFORE you even have started using solar power!
If your plumbing is leaking would you just let it leak? Would you leave a window part way open all year round? Of course not!
So why let your house and duct work leak air that you have paid for to heat and cool?

Here is what we do during an audit:

1. Exterior inspection-assess grading, exhaust venting, roof venting, structural issues, gas leak detection at the meter (as applicable), condition of heat pump or AC unit, paint/caulking/ flashing condition, and any potential points of water intrusion.

2. Interior Inspection- Basement/crawlspace/attic inspection for signs of moisture, duct condition, and insulation, look for leak paths for air and water.

3. Combustion safety testing- For natural draft combustion furnace/boiler/water heater/kitchen stove. This makes sure your house combustion devices do not draw carbon monoxide into the house when you turn on exhaust fans.

4. Furnace/boiler/water heater efficiency analysis- to determine just how efficient these devices are.

5. Blower door test- To determine where all the leaks are in the house.

6. Infrared camera analysis (temperature dependent)- Use infrared technology to see through walls and ceilings to pin point exactly where cold/hot air leakage and insulation problems are at. We use state of the art equipment that most others do not have.

7. Basic duct leakage assessment with pressure pan- To determine the general extent of duct leakage and if mitigation is warranted to stop heating and cooling loss.

You will get a written report with observations/recommendations that are tabulated and confirmed with computerized data.
Evening and weekend appointments available.
Insulation and air sealing are integral facets of your entire energy picture and if you reduce before installing a solar system the amount you spend on fixing air leaks is minimal if you consider trying to use solar for your entire home as is !
If you live in the state of Virginia, Maryland or the Metro D.C. area, call 1-800-816-0151 to set up an appointment today!
*Only extra fees would be for travel expense and lodging if necessary.
