Depicts typical village work-a-day scenes -- collecting water from well, gathering coconuts, moving harvested bundles -- around central image of village hut with people at rest, the sheep tethered in its pen. Colors are created from rice paste, clay and charcoal. Simple geometric and stick figure shapes are the signature Warli style, as practiced for 2000 years. Warli paintings were traditionally painted by the tribal women on walls of adobe huts to mark festivals and celebrations such as weddings, harvest, and others. They have only recently become available in the form of paintings sold to the public.
