In 1958, President Eisenhower proclaimed the admissiion of two new States into the Union - Alaska on January 3, and Hawaii on August 21. This required the addition of two stars to the flag - one in 1959 and the other in 1960.
This is the booklet that introduced that new flag - the new design shown on the cover - along with a history of flags in general, our flag, the Marines and the flag and a copy of the verses to the Marine Hymn, and how to display the flag.
