Fuchsia 'Black Prince'
Like all modern Fuchsia hybrids, Black Prince is almost in bloom continuously from spring through fall outdoor here in California. This particular cultivar is a compact, upright, easy reliable perennial that can be comfortably grown in a container and bring indoor during winter. Does not need hard pruning to keep small, and has moderate growth rate. Can be trained for hanging basket as well with the use of weights. Bears mid-size flowers that are strongly colored and eye-catching. These have deep red tubes and sepals. The corolla is simple and starts off dark purple (some might call it velvety black) and very tight, and gradually ages to pink, widening in the process. Very good subject for bonsai too. Hardy from zone 8 onwards. 2 feet tall and wide. Morning sun. Rich, moist soil.

Easy to root the last time we tried, but takes some time.
