third-generation programming language,
and one of the oldest programming languages
still in active use. Its name is an acronym
for Common Business-Oriented Language, defining
its primary domain in business, finance, and
administrative systems for companies and
governments.
One of the positions a student of data
processing (or computer information
systems or management information systems)
hopes to be hired for upon graduation is
programmer. Since COBOL is the most widely
used programming language in the business
environment, it make sense that a good
share of the stueent's programming experience
should be in COBOL specifically using COBOL's
modern structued programming techniques. It
is to that end that this curriculum design and
