This listing is for the Hard copy of the classic by Regina Maria Roche.
It first appeared in 1796, in London in 4 volumes, and related the tale of Amanda and Oscar Fitzalan, two young people in love who are robbed of their rightful inheritance by a forged will. Her third novel, it was a major commercial success, remaining in print for most of the 19th century.
The book pages are in good condition for it's age, over 100 years. The pages have yellowed with age and show wear. The cover is in good condition. The binding has dark coloring at base with fraying on top and bottom. The back flyleaves are present but separated from the binding.
On the flyleaf is written in pen, "To little Marguerite from Marie Xmas 1899". We are not certain of the names because of the handwriting. Please look at photo with the inscription.
On page 299 in pen is the name Marguerite Brown written across the page. It does not effect the text.
