Wild Bergamot, Monarda fistulosa.
Bergamot is a perennial herb, has a strong fragrance and produces lavender flowers. It may be used for flavoring meats and for teas. Plant in well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. Bergamot is susceptible to powdery mildew. Avoid overhead watering and allow space between plants for good air circulation. Keep soil moist. This will reduce the tendency of mildew. Grows to a height of 3-4ft. Hardy in zones 4-9.
