Tragic actress Peggy Shannon (1906-1941) sent this autographed birthday greeting card in the early 1930s.
Inside it's autographed in violet ink: Best Wishes Peggy Shannon. The card was sent to noted songwriter and Hollywood fan club pioneer Charles "Chaw" Mank Jr. (1902-1985). Mank ran one of Shannon's fan clubs and newsletter.
On May 11, 1941, Shannon was found dead at the kitchen table in her North Hollywood apartment, a heart attack victim brought on by alcoholism. Three weeks later her actor-cameraman husband Albert Roberts killed himself with a .22 rifle at the very same spot.
Excellent condition. Reverse side of card carries some residual black paper from a scrapbook, but it doesn't affect the signature or overall apearance of this unique item.
