This beautiful vintage all wool flatwoven rug is a fine example of slit tapestry kilim weave from Anatolia. These rugs are sometimes used as prayer rugs or hung on the wall rather than being used on the floor.
Rug is known to be at least 50 years old, and believed to be an early 20th century piece. Colors are red, brown, cream, light blue, light green and light coral. The design is formed by individually woven pieces, like a puzzle, that are joined by the slit tapestry technique.
Corded fringe at the ends provides a beautiful accent and is in good condition. Fringe is formed from a continuation of the colorway of the wool in a series of colorful x's that are joined at the tips.
SIZE: Measures 42x68 inches
WEIGHT: 4.5 pounds.
CONDITION: Rug is in excellent, clean condition, with no stains, holes or moth damage. Has been professionally cleaned since last use. One of the joined fringe tips is separated.
