Metal Saga is set in the same post-apocalyptic world as its predecessors - a world populated by bounty hunters, rangers, bandits, and mutant monsters. The player takes the role of a nameless young man, the son of a famous retired bounty hunter Eddy, who lives in a town known as Junkyard. Refusing to be a mechanic - which would lead to a quiet, yet uneventful life - the youth decides to follow in his father's footsteps: travel the world and track down fearsome outlaws for rewards.
