Detective Comics # 527 - June 1983 - NM/NM+! "Avatars of Vengeance!" is by Doug Moench (as he just began his 30 year association with Batman), Dan Day & Pablo Marcus, as Dr. Kirk Langstrom, exceedingly busy at work and forgetting to take his antidote, once again becomes the powerful Man-Bat! Man-Bat goes searching for Batman and checks the Batcave 1st, then knocks on the mansion door and almost gives Alfred Pennyworth a heart attack, as Batman tracks him down and watches helplessly as Man-Bat grabs Jason Todd and flies off!! GREEN ARROW stars in "Getting Up!" by Joey Cavalieri, Paris Cullins & Pablo Marcus (who went on to form his own graphic novel Publishing Company) as he takes on a young man who calls himself Ozone--and who sends him out a high rise building!! These were great features for the literal 500th Apperance of Batman in this Title!!!
Detective Comics # 530 - Sept. 1983 - NM/MINT! "Passion Nocturnale!" is by Doug Moench, Gene Colan & Dick Giordano, as Nocturna is drawing Jason Todd to her in the dark woods--and explains to him some startling facts!! Batman is tracking her down--but has to give a deposition in court--and she enters the courtroom, causing a commotion, and Batman chases her, as she takes down three guards! The hunt continues and the final fight takes place in a hot air Balloon!! "Survival of The Fittest!" by J. Cavalieri, Adrian Gonzalez & Rick Magyar finds Green Arrow taking on a squad of fully trained Radicals who have taken over a U.S. Embassy--and demand the Nuclear Launch Codes!!

"Something Scary!" is by Doug Moench, Gene Colan & Bob Smith, as Batman takes a full dose of Scarecrow's Fear Gas and Robin has to take on the Insane Scarecrow by himself!! Great Story!! GREEN ARROW stars in "In Cold Type!" by Joey Cavalieri, Shawn McManus & Sal Trapani, as he takes on a Special Effects Artist who calls himself Print Devil--and who gives him a rough time!!

"The Spider's Ninth Leg!" is by Doug Moench, Pat Broderick & Dick Giordano, as Batman takes on a career criminal, who has now sunk to the lowest depths, committing cold blooded murder!! The chase lasts all over Gotham City and ends with Joey Redwine's Death--and Batman is shown where Redwine's soul goes--to the horrors of Hell!!
"Night Olympics!" by Alan Moore, Klaus Janson & Todd Klein finds Green Arrow having the worst night of his life--as BLACK CANARY GETS SHOT WITH AN ARROW!! Payback is gonna be a B---H when Ollie Catches the guy!!
Detective Comics Vol 1 #554 - September 1985 - NM/M! "Port Passed" is by Doug Moench, Klaus Janson and Todd Klein, as Detective Harvey Bullock uncovers a plot at the docks, and Jim Gordon notifies Batman and Robin and quips "Every time I see that kid my weird feelin' gets weirder... I always thought Robin was bigger and older too... hmmm"! Smugglers use an Ocean Liner to try to get a criminal out if the USA! Black Canary stars in "The Past is Prologue" as Dinah Lance learns that her phobia is generated by her mother's memories (imprinted upon her own) of Pyra, a villainess with powers similar to Bonfire's, who was the one foe the first Black Canary failed to capture. Deciding that the way to break her phobia is to break with the past, Dinah designs a brand new Black Canary Costume for herself, seeks out Bonfire, and is almost defeated by her foe again until she lashes out with her canary cry and bowls her over! She and the late-arriving Green Arrow take Bonfire into custody!
