Official 1974 ALABAMA Highway Map
Description: Here's a nice vintage highway map and guide for the State of Alabama, produced by the Alabama Highway Department. The map was apparently designed for mailing, as the back outer panel provides space for a mailing address and stamp, It also has a "Welcome" message from, and photo of, Alabama's then current Governor, George C. Wallace.
The primary map shows all of Alabama's main highways, roads, counties, cities, towns, lakes, rivers, parks, and other points of interest. The left edge has a three-column index of all the cities and towns shown. There are small local maps across the top for the cities of Mobile, Birmingham, Montgomery, Tuscaloosa, Gadsden, Huntsville, and Anniston. At the bottom is a small mileage chart, a key to the highway markers and classifications, and a grid showing the facilities and amenities available at Alabama's State Parks.
The reverse side includes a number of scenic photos with associated promotional descriptions. At the bottom are drawings of the State Flag, Fish (fighting tarpon), Flower (camellia), Bird (yellowhammer), Tree (southern pine), and Coat of Arms.
Size: Folded, it measures about 4" x 9.5", then opens out to approximately 28" x 19".
Date: 1974
Condition: Excellent, I'd say. The map appears unused and is fresh and clean, with no creases, tears, or extraneous markings. (Please see photos.)
**NOTE**: Shipping charges are discounted when more than one of my items are purchased at the same time. See what else I have to offer!
