Description: Very nice First Day Cover bearing a single copy of the 1972 100th Anniversary of Mail Order 8¢ commemorative stamp (Sc. #1468).

Cachet: Multicolor FLEETWOOD design featuring a portrait and signature of Aaron Montgomery Ward, credited as the founder of the mail order industry. The back of the envelope has a printed description of Ward's "entrepreneurial audacity" by producing a mail order catalog in 1872, with an assortment of 163 clothing and home furnishing items available by mail order. It also mentions how that business had, by 1972, grown into 1,581 catalog stores and 475 retail stores.
