SYNOPSIS
Unexpurgated interviews with some of gay porn's most familiar faces. Dave Kinnick, longtime video reviewer for Advocate Men, gets personal with the men behind (and under) the "stars"--revealing the warts and wildcats of the business in all their glory. From the silly to the scathing, Kinnick's subjects withhold nothing about themselves or the business that's made their unique talents known to gay men across the country. Collected here for the first time, these interviews reveal the last secrets of some of gay erotica's bluest boys.

INTRODUCTION
Why is every boy who appears in X-rated videos called a "porn star"? It's something I've always wondered about. Is it considered to be such a degrading way of making money that the glossy epithet is handed to them automatically, like a sort of consolation prize? Certainly, when you talk to a typical gay man who rents and buys the videos, he will invariably assume the worst about the performers in them.
There is a tacit presumption that the lad in question has a major drug problem, or can't hold down any other type of job, or is in the process of coming to terms with a sexually compulsive personality. But this is certainly not always the case.
In fact, these situations are the exceptions to the rule. Thave my own theory about why porn stars are stars. I think they fulfill something that is, for most gay men, a secret fantasy. They do for money and fame the act that defines us as a group having sex with men. That which all of us have spent a lifetime dealing with, they do casually for a couple hundred bucks a shot. Their attitude toward sex often appears to be frivolous. But when something becomes frivolous, it also starts to become difficult to be fearful of it.
These interviews were conducted over a period of time (February 1990 to August 1992) that has been a period of crisis for the gay adult industry. Our existence is threatened by the right wing politics of our federal government and by the growing tolerance for censorship in American society."
Due to recent delivery issues with the USPS I prefer to ship all magazines, digests and paperback books via Priority Mail. Up to $100 of insurance is included in this price. If you require additional insurance please let me know before I invoice you. I'm selling my collection of vintage 1950-1980s gay pulp paperback novels, pictorial and hardcore magazines, physique photography, magazines, artwork and other LGBTQ ephemera.
